After 10 years of friendship… I found out one of my best friends is a huge fan of Meryl Streep. Later on that same day he sent me a list with all films she acted… Of course I already watched a lot of them, and my family and I always thought she is and icredible actress (one of the best I may say). I’ll start with the ones I’ve seen many times, as Devil wears Prada, honestly I have seen this one more than 20 times… Who doesn’t love this film? My mum always says “Oh I can’t believe you are watching it again, I will watch with you anyway…”, and Devil wears Prada is one of my favourite movies so far, it is about the fashion world, and I am a fashion designer, a beginner but I am.
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA

In New York, the simple and naive just-graduated in journalism Andrea Sachs is hired to work as the second assistant of the powerful and sophisticated Miranda Priestly, the ruthless and merciless executive of the Runway fashion magazine. Andrea dreams to become a journalist and faces the opportunity as a temporary professional challenge. The first assistant Emily advises Andrea about the behavior and preferences of their cruel boss, and the stylist Nigel helps Andrea to dress more adequately for the environment. Andrea changes her attitude and behavior, affecting her private life and the relationship with her boyfriend Nate, her family and friends. In the end, Andrea learns that life is made of choices.

I love Meryl interpreting Miranda Priestly, I love her interpreting any character, she’s too good! And this pictura is just amazing : )
These two dolls are inspired by two of my favorite movie characters – Miranda Priestly as portrayed by Meryl Streep and Andrea Sachs as played by Anne Hathaway from the film “The Devil Wears Prada”.
Full facial repaint and shading as well as extensive hair style make over to replicate the features of the characters and the subtle nuances of lifelike expressions.
The inset photos on the bottom portion show the mass produced version of the dolls as they were originally released.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll’s face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person’s likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
I found his picture on google images, where I research for pictures, because I can find what I am looking for easier and faster, anyway I found Noel Cruz deviant art (click on the image to open) he repaints the original dolls to make it look more alike the celebrity ooorr the character in this case. Perfect Perfect!! What an artist!
SHE DEVIL

First she embarresses her husband when his parents come over to dinner. Then when he leaves her for good, Ruth comes up with a list of everything that belongs to her husband then the revenge is to destroy all of it. Because, she’s a She Devil!

I love this film, it is really funny, and again Meryl looks stunning! I’ve watched it a lot of times too, if you haven’t you should!
SOPHIE’S CHOICE

Sophie is the survivor of Nazi concentration camps, who has found a reason to live in Nathan, a sparkling if unsteady American Jew obsessed with the Holocaust. They befriend Stingo, the movie’s narrator, a young American writer new to New York City. But the happiness of Sophie and Nathan is endangered by her ghosts and his obsessions.

And the Oscar goes to… Yes Meryl won her second Oscar interpreting Sophie. The choice scene is horrifying at least to me, you have to watch! Thi is absolutely one of the best performances of Meryl. I don’t want to say a lot, because you really have to watch!!
THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY

The path of Francesca Johnson’s future seems destined when an unexpected fork in the road causes her to question everything she had come to expect from life. While her husband and children are away at the Illinois state fair in the summer of 1965, Robert Kincaid happens turn into the Johnson farm and asks Francesca for directions to Roseman Bridge. Francesca later learns that he was in Iowa on assignment from National Geographic magazine. She is reluctant seeing that he’s a complete stranger and then she agrees to show him to the bridges and gradually she talks about her life from being a war-bride from Italy which sets the pace for this bittersweet and all-too-brief romance of her life. Through the pain of separation from her secret love and the stark isolation she feels as the details of her life consume her, she writes her thoughts of the four-day love affair which took up three journals…

OMG what to say about this film… It is incredible, it is sad, but at the same time it is amazing. It is a very intense, and very powerful drama, it is that kind of film you watch over and over and over again… It is on my list of favourite movies, for sure! Ps: I didn’t cry.

I will leave the rest for next post… I still need to talk about the splendid Iron Lady, and the Web Therapy episode and The Hours, so I will be back as soon as I can with My Week with Meryl (I actually had one, 7 films, wow I didn’t think about it before)… Have a good weekend, maybe watch one of these movies.
